Otaku U Rule Photoshoot: January 2013
Otaku U
Rule has been known to organize events and this year they held their very first
photoshoot. This has been the largest photoshoot event organized at Ninoy
Aquino Parks and Wildlife. NAPW has been known to be a favorite spot of
photographers, models and cosplayers alike. Having the venue accessible to
almost everyone in the cosplay community, a lot participated on the event.
It was a
very organized event with approachable marshals roaming around the venue. Both
cosplayers and photographers were required for registration before they go on
with a group or solo shoot.
Some of the
crew participated on the event on their One Piece and non-One Piece cosplays.
It was such
a delight seeing the whole venue get swarmed with photographers, cosplayers and
bystanders up until the last hour of the shoot. One of the familiar faces who
attended was out resident photographer, Sir Francis Legarda. As expected and as
grateful as we were, he did allot time with the crew and took photos of us.
Here are
some of the photos of the crew during the shoot:
It was
really a very proud moment as this event made one of our members, April Villafuerte as
the winner of URule’s Cosplayer of the Month for January 2013.
Check out
the rest of the crew with their photos with our photographer friends ^___^v :

UNIQLO One Piece Cosplay Event
For the past
year GrandLinePH has been attending generally-themed cosplay events and
costripping at random events. This year we have been given a chance to attend
an exclusive One Piece themed cosplay event organized by UNIQLO and
co-predented by UP-AME.
UNIQLO is a
known RTW boutique shop in Japan that had opened a branch here in the
Philippines at SM Mall of Asia at the latter quarter last year.
It has been
to our anticipation that the store will also sell One Piece related items as we
have been informed by some of our Japanese friends that they do sell them in
Japan. And at last, on the 19th of January this year, UNIQLO launched the
selling of the One Piece items we have been waiting for.
In part of
this launch, UNIQLO reserved three special days to celebrate their new
collection.
And of
course, we had to attend on the second day! ^U^ We have gathered all of the
possible cosplayers we can and treated this as our first assembly this year!
There were
more than 20 participants and most, and I think, 90%+ are GrandLinePH
cosplayers.
It was such
a beautiful sight as the UNIQLO area was filled with lots of One Piece
cosplayers.
The program
proper was to perform a short skit in front of the judges, parade through the
mall, present the cosplayers to the crowd per batch and then the awarding of
winners.
The panel of
judges, if I had recalled it correctly, are brand managers and UNIQLO
representatives from Japan.
Here are
some of the GrandLinePH cosplayers performing in front of the judges:
The parade
took no more than an hour and then we had to pose for the crowd afterwards.
At the
latter part of the event, everybody was so excited as to who will be the three
winners. The prizes at stake were a One Piece Toy Watch for the third placer, a
One Piece Toy Watch + 1,000 worth of UNIQLO GC for the second placer and the
new One Piece PS3 Game + UNIQLO GC for the first placer.
We were
proudly celebrating as one of our members was called for the third place, TJ
Tumangan. TJ cosplayed Madam Sharley that day and has amazed the judges with
her skit.
In addition,
as our celebration continued, they called another member from our group for the
second place, Noli Reyes. Noli cosplayed Dracule Mihawk impressing the judges
with his craftsmanship and creativity.
The grand
winner of the event was the ever so gorgeous Ms. Trixie who cosplayed as Boa
Hancock. We saw her once at a UP-AME event and we have been looking for her ever
since!. She did a really great job portraying the Snake Empress and was really
in character.
Here are
some photos of the winners with the judges:
It was a
successful event and we really enjoyed the day. We hope to attend more One
Piece-themed events in the future and meet fellow One Piece cosplayers as well.
Enjoy some
of these shots from the event:
See you on
the next event! ^0^/*
